Yingde stone was harvested from from Guangdong province in Southern China, one of the four famous types of Chinese scholar stone (also known as Gongshi, meditation stone or spirited stone). Yingde stone is priced for its wrinkled sculptural form that tends to be thin and slender, and its intricate surface marked with twisted furrows, folds and lines. The stone best embodies the traditional Chinese ink painting of a mountainous landscape in far distance that invokes the imagination from the viewer. Different scenery is revealed when viewed from different angles. The surface is extraordinary, weather by nature, it exhibits so much characters and it will keep unveiling its mystery to the viewer upon meditations.

The highly prized scholar rocks with their strange formation has long been revered by Chinese literati dating back to Tang/Song Dynasty. Typically formed through geologic processes, these rocks beguile connoisseurs with their dynamic form and the interplay of positive and negative space. The exodus of energy and enigma is mediated upon and interpreted by the individual viewer. These stones are more than decorative, they reflect a cultivated endeavor to contain the nature in one's study.

Customer Self Pick-Up

If you choose to pick-up your purchase, please be sure to bring enough manpower to move your items into your vehicle. Remember to bring sufficient blankets/bubble wrap/rope if necessary. Patina is not responsible for any damage incurred with your move. We request that all purchases be picked up within 1 week from date of purchase.
