Architectural Columns

Anne Heyl
$300.00

These wonderfully detailed small studies capture the unique style of the three principal orders of archtecture: Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. In the ancient Greek world the first order was Doric whose columns had a simple capital but no base. Ionic columns have a capital in the form of a double scroll or volute. Corinthian columns have a richly decorated capital, usually with sculpted flower and leaf decoration. These sketches are exquisitely drawn and capture the unique style of this ancient architecture still found in buildings today.

Measures 5 x 7. Pencil on bristol

About the Artist:  Anne Heyl Kody is a local artist living in Belle Have, Virginia. She paints primarily in acrylic, but also enjoys working with watercolor, gouache, ink and pencil.
